Public Works
Annual Road Postings
Each spring, the Town of Industry posts certain roads to help prevent damage during the seasonal freeze-thaw cycle. While roads are posted, the maximum registered vehicle weight permitted is 23,000 pounds unless roadway conditions are considered frozen.
Roads are considered frozen when temperatures remain below 32°F and there is no standing water present in cracks or along adjacent gravel driveways, shoulders, or lawns. Once road postings are in effect, they typically remain in place until no later than May 15.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping preserve and maintain the condition of our roads.
Winter Sand
Winter sand is available free of charge to Industry residents throughout the winter season. The sand is a mixture of sand and road salt and is intended for residential use only.
Please note:
- Limit of two 5-gallon buckets per visit
- Residents must bring their own buckets and shovel
- No contractor use permitted
Mailboxes
Mailboxes, fences, shrubbery, and other items placed within the Town right-of-way are considered to be at the property owner’s risk under State law. Residents are responsible for keeping mailboxes properly cleared and accessible during winter months.
The Public Works crew takes precautions to avoid direct contact with mailboxes during snow removal operations. In many cases, damage occurs from the weight and force of snow thrown from plow equipment rather than direct impact.
If your mailbox is damaged during snow removal operations, the Town will reimburse the cost of the mailbox with submission of a receipt to the Town Office.
